To be able to function in this environment you must be able demonstrate your experience in assessing complex business needs and managing the process of creating a viable solution architecture that will meet that need, dealing with all the real business and enterprise architecture constraints associated with determining a technology roadmap, and working through decisions to get to final decisions and agreements. You must have a solid working knowledge of our business partner’s business, products, services, and organization – specifically, at least one of Accounting and Finance, Tax, Risk Management – not necessarily BMO-specific, but at least business specific in a similar organization.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensures that the LOB direction falls within the overall enterprise and technical architecture planning, design and integration strategies, and communicates and interprets technology direction to personnel in the department
  • Consults and/or analyzes engagements to assess how technology might best enable complex business capabilities crossing multiple LOBs.
  • Provides application specific expertise and knowledge about the architecture and the direction of the enterprise to project teams in order to collaborate in writing proposals for the business partner about technological opportunities for major/diverse functions  
  • Develops solution architectures and associated estimates for Corporate Services projects using Enterprise and Technical Architecture framework, standards, and templates
  • Provides consulting on solution and data architecture to business partners and CIO groups
  • Provides advice and guidance to senior management and executives on issues, risks and opportunities related to the related to mapping functionality from operational to analytical systems
  • Provides solution support and governance to delivery teams to ensure investments are optimally managed, and solutions are implemented as designed, or modified in a governed and controlled manner
  • Provides knowledgeable counsel to the LTO/STO and LOB management to resolve conflict arising in the process of design and delivery
  • Represents LOB technology directions to other areas of T&O in order to share information on the business direction
  • Ensures solutions are presented, discussed and approved at all required solution decision making forums
  • Provides technical guidance and counsel to staff in the LOB and project teams to ensure alignment to business and Information Technology (IT) strategies, as well as enterprise architecture
  • Develops end-to-end (cross platform/LOB) solution architecture for projects to address concerns/issues impacting technology areas within the Enterprise
  • Develops and maintains application architecture within the Enterprise context to ensure operational maintenance 

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • Possesses a university degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) and/or 10+ years experience in the IT industry
  • Is experienced in dealing with senior management in business and T&O, and leading teams through facilitated sessions to evaluate solution options and arrive a solutions
  • Exhibits solid business knowledge and advanced knowledge of Financial systems, data warehousing and business intelligence technology and industry products and processes
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks, methodologies and tools
  • Exhibits solid knowledge of Enterprise technology standards and guidelines
  • Displays solid knowledge of how to identify opportunities to leverage technology as a component of a business capability solution
  • Displays solid knowledge of the business partner’s business, products, services, and organization – specifically, at least one of Accounting and Finance, Tax, Risk Management,
  • Displays working knowledge of metadata management, data integration, reporting and analysis platforms, data architecture, data sourcing and information management systems optimization
  • Demonstrates advanced experience vetting and evaluating requirements and developing and delivering the  conceptual solution deliverables for mid to large complex enterprise implementations
