Job Description:

This position will be primarily responsible for identification, development and business capture of U.S. Marine Corps training opportunities and those associated with the USMC Component Commands that support US regional Combatant Commanders. Focus areas will initially be aligned with current and emerging instrumentation, data analytics, and architectures that support training in pursuit of readiness for combat operations. This includes live instrumentation, embedded training and future Live Virtual Constructive Synthetic gaming training capabilities. Specific duties will involve: 1) developing and capturing business opportunities targeting current and next generation domestic and worldwide markets; 2) working with industry partners; 3) capture and discretionary budget management; 4) customer facing activities and engagements with HQMC, MCCDC, TECOM and PMTRASYS. This position will typically work within the intent of the VP for Business development and under general supervision and direction. This position will regularly exercise substantial discretionary and decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages business capture in accordance with Cubic Corporation and Cubic Global Defense policies, procedures and department instructions.
  • Ensures that business plans are achieved through strategic and localized customer engagement strategies, requirements shaping and product specialization for end user needs.
  • Serves in identification and pursuit of business opportunities within the USMC to include Foreign Military and Direct Commercial Sales.
  • Leads all elements of assigned capture activities from opportunity identification, interest, pursuit, bid and proposal and post submission requirements.
  • Plans and directs integration of cross-functional, matrix capture teams from various organizations within the company to achieve business development aims.
  • Performs capture financial management to ensure that awards are achieved within budgeted resources.
  • Performs marketing, trade show and advertisement activities as assigned.
  • Reviews and approves proposed technical approach, feasibility and customer reactions to proposed solutions with proposal and program management teams.
  • Uses proven understanding of USMC training systems acquisition and requirement generation organizations, stakeholders, emerging requirements, combat, and technology capabilities.
  • Assists in developing and marketing new training solutions with adjacent business units.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree and a minimum of ten years of experience as a fleet Marine, plus in-depth knowledge of USMC acquisition practices, requirements generation, and/or test and evaluation activities are required. Position requires a comprehensive knowledge of USMC training doctrine and requirements. Skills and knowledge obtained as a former unit commander/operations officer, TTECG functional staff member, or MAWTS-1 instructor, and previous duties in an acquisition organization are highly desired. Candidate must possess and demonstrate excellent communication (written and oral) skills; work effectively with all levels of Cubic, industry and military stakeholders; plus, be able to utilize Microsoft Office tools in the normal performance of position responsibilities. Must be able to prioritize work, complete multiple tasks, and work under deadlines. Must have, or be able to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
