Primary functions of the position include responsibility for the accurate and effective administration of benefits related activities and compliance. Additional responsibilities below.

Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, recommend, implement and maintain benefit programs (401(k), corporate wellness, rewards/recognition, tuition and adoption assistance, corporate wellness, etc.)
  • Serve as the subject matter expert of the 401(k) retirement plan to include completion of the annual non-discrimination testing, audit, 5500 filing, distribution of SPDs and SARs and all other compliance related matters
  • Manage and oversee the discretionary contribution filing in coordination with Payroll and HRIS team members
  • Serve as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators
  • Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes and maintain plan documents
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable government regulations. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of required reporting, fees and notices
  • Oversee enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, hardship withdrawals and maintenance of employee benefits profiles
  • Analyze current benefits, evaluating the use, services, coverage, effectiveness, costs, plan experience and competitive trends
  • Prepare, collect and organize data for outside auditors and actuaries to complete 401(k), retiree medical valuation, workers comp, payroll and other HR related audits
  • Survey industry trends and complete benefit surveys, review results to forecast trends and assist with future benefit designs, and develop and present recommendations basedon findings for review by senior management and 401(k) investment committee
  • Monitor administrative costs of benefit programs and recommend cost containment and participant education strategies
  • Provide customer service support to internal and external customers
  • Develop communication tools in partnership with marketing to promote the value of the company's benefits package and design and distribute materials for new hire benefit orientations and annual open enrollment process
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • BS degree or commensurate combination of education and experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in an HR benefits related role preferred
  • Subject matter expert level knowledge of 401(k) plans
  • Thorough knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA and other benefits related federal and state regulations
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities in an extremely fast paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) with all levels within the organization
  • Attention to detail
  • Proven organizational and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, to include Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Proven ability to uphold the highest regard for confidentiality
