The Hartford's Enterprise Risk Management IT team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Developerto lead efforts to transform and migrate our on premise platforms to AWS as well as lead new development efforts leveraging AWS services. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills, proficiency in working in a matrix technical environment, excellent technical acumen, proven experience in delivering quality solutions as well as clearly demonstrated ability in setting and executing on a strategic vision.Coaching and mentoring of teammates new to AWS is key.

Candidate must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will have a willingness to learn and understand existing processes and systems, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions (communication with non-technical team members is as essential as communicating with technical team members). They should be able to make decisions quickly in consultation with team members and subject matter experts and be able to build strong relationships, actively participate in team environment and understand the dynamics and critical nature of the business.

Responsibilities of the position include:

• Design and develop cloud based solutions in AWS that are scalable, highly available, and easily maintainable.
• Deliver business solutions using state of the art technical frameworks, web and database technologies.
• Effectively partner with subject matter experts and key stakeholders.
• Interpret business requirements into low level technical design.
• Collaborate with fellow developers to design, develop, implement and support complex business solutions
• Mentor Jr. team members.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience working with AWS core services and deploying cloud based solutions.
• Advanced Cloud Certification or ongoing efforts to obtain these designations.
• Computer Science / Information Technology related degree or related technical experience along with several years of Java development experience.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology such as Scrum and Kanban.
