Job Description

Our team is driving the evolution of how our technology infrastructure stack is delivered in both the private and public cloud environments. This is key to creating ease of life cycle for that infrastructure, efficient re-allocation, and accountability across business stakeholders easing the burden of investment.

The IaaS Senior Automation Engineer is tasked with designing and developing solutions for the consumers of our Infrastructure Services (Compute, Storage, and Networking). You will take advantage of cutting-edge technologies to improve automation capabilities of the infrastructure supported throughout the organization.
Daily tasks by the Automation Engineer include building infrastructure automation, defining best practices for that automation, and mentoring the team development. This includes working with tools like Ansible, Rundeck, Python, Powershell, and BitBucket.

The Infrastructure Automation Engineer focuses on implementing tools to build a robust platform for use by DevOPs, InfraOPS and SRE teams and guiding development and documenting automation standards for use by the IaaS organization. This platform includes Infra pipeline, monitoring, storage and cloud maintenance tools. The role requires that the individual be a consensus builder that works to align systems engineering strategy and design with architectural guidelines, private and public cloud infrastructure strategy and business goals.

Our team supports approximately 20 different technologies with a mix of manual and automated service requests performed today and the goal is to automate as much of the manual service requests as possible.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic automation tools to improve infrastructure project quality.
  • Review and mentor automation projects and assessments.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the infrastructure automation and configuration management stack and train/mentor team members to increase skills and capabilities.
  • Develop continuous integration, deployment, and testing work flows for infrastructure automation strategy.
  • Must be able to handle multiple automation projects.
  • Actively participate in high-level team activities such as suggesting architecture. improvements, recommending process improvements and conducting tool evaluations.

Required Skills:

  • Experience designing and building infrastructure automation solutions.
  • Proficient in modern programming in at least one or more modern languages (Python, PowerShell).
  • Proficient in configuration tools ( Ansible[preferred], Rundeck, Puppet, Chef)
  • Proven experience in Version Control (Git) process, and software lifecycle management (Bitbucket experience a plus)
  • 5+ years’ experience in maintaining Linux operating systems and in some combination of the following infrastructure technologies: networking, security, virtualization, Storage, Data Protection and services such as DNS, Proxy, LDAP/AD, NTP
  • Communication across multiple end users/stakeholders, team player.
  • Technical writing in the area of documentation for solutions, proposals, and runbooks.
  • Infrastructure automation experience


  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related.
  • Preferred MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related.
