Aerojet Rocketdyne Coleman Aerospace is looking for a Systems Administrator to act as the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for Department of Defense networks and IT systems. This is a multi-tasking environment that demands customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Primary duty location will be Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS). This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)

Working under general direction:

40% - Perform technical security controls assessments and baseline validations to identify vulnerabilities and control deficiencies as part of continuous monitoring program.

30% - Information assurance sustainment activities such as hardware/software change management, account management, auditing, media protection, file transfers, etc.

10% - System self-inspections, audit log reviews, secure baselines, and continuous monitoring.

5% - Interfacing with internal and external customers, program managers, engineers, etc.

5% - Prepare and conduct general/privileged IA training and awareness.

5% - Conduct actions related to cyber incident response, investigation, and resolution.

5% - Development, maintenance, and execution of DoD compliant Information Assurance policies and procedures for primary customer base.


Requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (or related discipline) and 6 years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

US Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (U.S. Citizenship required). Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Additional Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior ISSO experience.
  • Current Secret clearance strongly preferred.
  • Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows, Linux, Unix.
  • Experience with various information system security assessment/hardening tools - SCAP Compliance Checker, ACAS, Nessus.
  • Working knowledge of WAN/LAN, to include Cisco-based routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • DoD 8570.1 compliant certification (e.g. Security +, CISSP, etc.).
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently, customer service orientated.
  • In depth experience of Assessment & Authorization processes (Risk Management Framework, DIACAP, NISPOM).
  • Experience with NIST 800-53 and 800-171 implementation desired.
  • Working knowledge and experience with NISPOM Chapter 8 requirements.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.
