The Senior Analyst of Medical Informatics will work closely with the Manager of Medical Informatics to build and maintain those components of Cerner Millennium and related systems that impact physician documentation. The Senior Analyst of Medical Informatics has an extensive understanding of system build and implementation, the ability to analyze and understand business problems, and the knowledge to make solution recommendations that meet the organizational goals of maintaining clinical and business systems. This analyst is dedicated to providing a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery system that continually improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and enhances the experiences of our patients.

They will work with the Medical Informatics team to enhance the end user experience through the use of Cerner Lights On, Cerner Physician Advance, and other analytics tools. This analyst will keep abreast of changes and enhancements to Cerner Physician Advance and other tools that assist in defining physician metrics  and coordinate a strategy for evaluating, upgrading, implementing, and maximizing the changes that would most benefit the Medical Informatics team, the facility Physician Informatics Liaisons and the physicians.

The Senior Analyst of Medical Informatics will utilize the knowledge of clinical practice, analytics, and information technology to manage data and determine components that are suitable to build while maintaining alignment with the professional standards of clinical practice. This analyst is responsible for coordinating with physicians and other end users in the analysis and documentation of clinical workflows, performing gap analysis, identifying needed process changes, and developing future workflows during the implementation of new solutions or functionality. The ability to communicate with all levels of hospital leadership, clinicians, physicians, and ancillary department staff is essential for this position. Extensive analytic work will be expected of this analyst.


    Demonstrates advanced level functional knowledge of Cerner Millennium PowerChart
    Serves as a lead member of the Medical Informatics team, dedicated to the development of electronic documentation solutions that support clinical workflow and practice and align with the current best practice standards
    Demonstrates advanced knowledge of processes within the facilities
    Builds and maintains Dynamic Documentation templates, MPages, Front-end Voice Recognition macro’s and templates, smart templates, autotexts, and any other modality which impacts physician documentation
    In collaboration with the Medical Informatics team and other outside stakeholders, develops and maintains documents and tools which increase provider efficiency while maintaining compliance with ever-changing documentation standards
    Works with outside departments to ensure that provider documentation complies with regulatory, quality, risk management, and billing standards
    Coordinates the design and build of the above mentioned components so that all are consistent across documentation modalities.
    Monitors and reports on metrics that relate to provider documentation
    Works with the Manager of Medical Informatics to review and coordinate all changes to provider documentation, Problem & Diagnosis List, Physician Portal, and ARC Site
    Keeps abreast of changes in regulatory, accreditation, and reimbursement standards that impact provider documentation
    Creates and manages dashboards and operational reports of physician documentation usage by facility and providers
    Reviews, provides input, solicits input from end users, and communicates changes
    Monitors use through available reports and analytical tools
    Provides on-going education regarding use and importance of the Problem/Diagnosis List
    Responds to requests for changes, modifications, or fixes through the Service Desk Manager
    Develops and maintains system design documentation and outlines build steps using appropriate tools
    Shares in the responsibility for monitoring the queue within Service Desk Manager
    Serves as a resource to the facility-based informatics staff
    Serves as a resource to other teams within AIT  
    Leads team meetings, project meetings, and other meetings when requested
    Plans and coordinates special projects using project management skills, tools, and Adventist IT methodologies
    Communicates necessary changes made in the applications amongst team members and site contacts as appropriate
    Prepares training materials and provides education on new components, applications, or functionality
    Conducts train-the-trainer, super-user, upgrade and/or other training
    Collaborates with the Training Team and others as needed to support the educational needs of the providers
    Shares in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call and support responsibilities

    Participates in the change management process by attending meetings as requested and addressing requests for fixes, improvements, and/or enhancements
    Serves as the expert resource for Cerner’s Physician Advance and Lights On product.
    Provides analytic support to the projects of the Medical Informatics Team

    Coordinates on projects with the Analytics Team
    Supports AHS facilities by providing training for facility-based informatics professionals on the optimal use and functionality of the recommended analytics tools
    Works with the facility-based informatics staff to identify opportunities for improvements to workflows and provider processes based on Cerner Lights On and Cerner Advance Data

Job Requirements

    3-5+ years’ experience with clinical/technical system application implementation in Cerner required
    3-5+ years of clinical/technical background required
    Experience analyzing data required.
    Experience with leading small groups or projects required

? MPage development preferred
? Dynamic Documentation build experience preferred
? Experience with Front-End Voice Dictation systems preferred
? Experience building macros, smart templates, and autotexts in the above applications preferred
? Microsoft Office suite experience required
? Microsoft Office Project experience desired
? Mentoring/training experience preferred

? College Degree (B.A., B.S. or significant commensurate experience) in a field of study such as business, IS, or healthcare related area required

? Member of one professional organization related to job responsibilities preferred

? Completion of one professional certification within three years and maintenance of certification thereafter if applicable
