About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Remuneration based in Montreal to design, develop and deliver Rio Tinto's Remuneration policies and programs across the Atlantic region (Americas, Europe, Middle East & Africa). This role requires a strong focus on delivering projects and internal client services for Rio Tinto business units in the Atlantic region.

Reporting to the Manager, Employee Remuneration – Atlantic, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide consulting services and comprehensive remuneration advice on matters including but not limited to base pay, fixed pay, short and long-term incentive programs, other bonus programs, etc.
  • Support the roll-out of our annual remuneration cycle activities across the various business units
  • Deliver day to day project management on cross-functional projects to ensure activities progress against objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards
  • Partner and coach HR teams to deliver strategically aligned and consistent remuneration solutions (eg guidelines, impact analysis, governance, …)
  • Conduct complex data analysis (such as cost modelling and financial analysis) and draw key conclusions that can be transferred into actionable deliverables
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams
  • Proactively identify remuneration issues/impacts and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Develop, review and implement policies, practices/programs enabling the business to deliver results worldwide
  • Identify, monitor and make recommendations on the competitiveness and applicability of remuneration local policies and employment conditions
  • Lead internal and external market researches (eg surveys, data and trends)
  • Develop and deliver training to managers and employees
  • Lead compliance activities (eg Pay Equity Act, Equal Pay, mandatory increases, etc.)
  • May have to manage vendor and service partners

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in HR, Industrial Relations or a related discipline (eg, mathematics, actuarial science)
  • At least 5-8 years of experience in remuneration, or other related discipline
  • Extensive experience in leading independent projects for senior stakeholders, clients, business leaders, other partners in HR
  • Advanced knowledge in gathering, extracting, analyzing and modelling data using analytical and statistical tools as well as building databases and tools
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, located in various international locations
  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills)
  • HRIS experience, including experience with web-enabled remuneration management tools and/or platforms
  • A high level of motivation and able to work independently and within a small team of global remuneration specialists
  • Fluent communication skills (written and spoken) in both English and French is essential
