Position Description

As a Senior Actuarial Consultant at UnitedHealth Group, you’ll direct cross-functional teams and influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas and approaches. It’s an opportunity to help rewrite the future of UnitedHealth Group as you participate in the development of business strategy and lead large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives. This position is responsible for multi-carrier, fully-insured exchanges and key account exchanges.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor, evaluate and communicate risk adjustment mechanism
  • Monitor program experience by plan, rating band and employer group
  • Collaborate with UW to develop pricing assumption recommendations
  • Maintain and enhance pricing model
  • Evaluate member migration at open enrollment
  • Recommend strategic pricing considerations and adjustments to grow profitable members
  • Perform ad-hoc studies to more thoroughly understand exchange dynamics and decision making
  • Provide standard national support for Key Accounts exchanges
  • Manage and provide support for actuarial student

The challenges here are significant. You’ll be responsible for leading an actuarial team, managing large projects and managing complex work streams and providing actuarial direction and strategy for a business to support pricing strategies for our products. You’ll be counted on as an SME in your content area and responsible for the work product at a high level.
Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of health actuarial experience
  • ASA
  • Expert using Excel and Powerpoint
  • Experience with Access, R, SQL
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all skill levels and focus areas

Preferred Qualifications

  • FSA preferred
  • Fully insured experience
