WEX is seeking a self-driven and analytical savvy professional to join their Corporate Accounting team, located in South Portland, Maine. As a Senior Team Lead, you will have the opportunity to supervise a team of professionals, streamline accounting processes and contribute to moving our business forward!

Performance Objectives:

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage and provide accurate and timely closing of the books and records.

  • Assist with the management of month-end closing process, ensuring a timely and accurate completion.

  • Review general ledger accounts to identify significant variance activity.

  • Manage the development, implementation, and/or maintenance of one or more accounting process including general ledger entries, reconciliations and reporting in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures.

  • Streamline the accounting processes and procedures to increase productivity and accuracy.

  • Enforce the policies and procedures to mitigate financial risk and enhance the control environment.

  • Provide information to the Company’s external auditors.

  • Stay current with Company initiatives in order to ensure compliance with appropriate accounting treatment.


  • Respond to requests for financial information from internal and external customers.

  • Identify areas of reporting risk to the Company.

  • Assist in the integration of accounting of new acquisitions in a controlled, compliant and efficient manner as applicable.

  • Balance sheet forecasting enhancements.

  • Optimization of new technology investments and accounting processes.


  • Demonstrate leadership behavior by effectively performing four core people management functions:

    • Building Bench Strength/Succession Planning



  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • 5-8 Years of accounting experience

  • Strong technical accounting skills

  • Unquestioned integrity and honesty

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Prior leadership experience

  • Ability to effectively communicate

  • Strong team building skills

  • Must pass a successful background investigation

  • CPA/MBA preferred
