We are seeking a dynamic Senior Accounting Manager with a CPA designation to join our finance team. Reporting to the North America Vice President of Accounting, the Senior Accounting Manager will lead a team of staff with approximately five direct reports. The position is responsible for leading the month-end close process, consolidation of financial results, preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting to the parent company, the completeness and accuracy of accounting transactions and the design, implementation and monitoring of internal controls over financial reporting. The Senior Accounting Manager will be an engaging leader of both employees and processes, and be able to analyze and resolve accounting issues with the staff and other members of the broader North America finance team.

Essential Job Functions (includes but is not limited to):

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial close processes
  • Lead the review of the monthly reporting packages required for submission to the parent company in France
  • Oversee the daily accounting processes performed by the team including the review of journal entries and reconciliations
  • Provide supervision and leadership to team members on a daily basis
  • Develop team members through training programs as well as formal and informal feedback on performance
  • Engage, motivate and inspire both team and cross-functional relationships
  • Manage internal and external audit processes
  • Facilitate the documentation of processes and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Provide accounting support to various business owners; perform research, document white papers on various topics and give presentations to key stakeholders
  • Lead special projects as needed

Required Skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Hands-on leadership and supervisory style that promotes a work environment focused on results, deadlines, and continuous improvement
  • Strong operational accounting skills; ability to handle daily, weekly, monthly accounting requirements
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP including IFRS 15 (Revenue Recognition), IFRS 16 (Leases) and inventory
  • Strong accounting systems skills; experience working with ERP systems is required. Knowledge of Great Plains, Navision and SAP Business Objects a plus
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Outstanding analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with members of the finance team

Travel Requirement, Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to travel occasionally to locations within the US and France
  • General office environment. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated
  • Working hours. The employee will be required to work evenings and weekends during certain peak times such as month-end, quarter-end and year-end
  • Office environment where the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and other office equipment.

Required Experience

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience working in accounting/finance
  • S. in Accounting and CPA required, MBA a plus
  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working with multinational companies required
  • 5+ years of experience of managerial experience leading teams of accountants
