WEX Inc, located in downtown Portland, Maine, is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst/Manager to play a key role in various elements of the company's SEC Reporting function, including a general knowledge and ability to effectively research SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP accounting principles and financial statements. The ideal candidate will interface regularly will other key members of the corporate accounting and finance team, legal, human resource and external auditors.

Performance Objectives:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Research and interpret accounting guidance. Communicate with impacted parties, prepare technical accounting position papers that document facts and circumstances and resulting conclusion.
  • Lead the preparation of SEC filings including 10-K and 10-Q.
  • Assist in the preparation of all financial information included in Investor Relations documents (8-K, scripts, investor presentations, etc.)
  • Be exposed to mergers and acquisitions – apply knowledge from deal involvement and valuation process to formulate opening balance sheets and subsequent adjustments throughout the measurement period.
  • Be part of creating Ad hoc reports and participate on special projects, as requested, including assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Have responsibility for SOX compliance activities, including executing internal controls.


Minimum Qualifications:

•Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related

•A minimum of 5 years of accounting/related experience

•Aptitude and enthusiasm to apply US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations to real world examples

•Highly detail oriented and organized in work

•Strong written and verbal communications skills

•Excellent team player who can build and leverage working relationships

•Strong analytical skills and ability to think independently

•Flexible within a rapidly changing, dynamic work environment

Preferred Qualifications:

•SEC Reporting experience

•Big 4 or public company experience

•Active CPA license

•Experience with PeopleSoft GL, Hyperion Financial Management and/or Workiva software
