The TaxDepartment is a strategic, centralized organization with responsibilities for the company. This role will be a key member of the Tax team, and the successful candidate will bring experience in the areas ofcurrent and emerging US tax law. This is a support role and the successful candidate will become highly visible within the organization interacting with business unit finance personnel.

The Senior Tax Accountant must develop collaborative relationships across RELX business units to accumulate the data necessary to prepare corporate income tax returns. The Senior Tax Accountant must be able to coordinate and manage several projects at the same time.

This role will report to the Manager-Compliance & Tax Reporting, and will accumulate and manage data required for the corporate income tax returns and required extensions andestimated tax payments. The candidate will assist and coordinate with tax team members in ensuring a cohesive and effective coordination between the tax department and business units as related to the tax return compliance process. The candidate will show the results of this coordination by assisting the Manager-Compliance & Tax Reporting during the compliance process and the timely filing of tax returns.

The key objectives are:

  1. Assist the tax department in all tax functions as needed, primarily tax compliance and accounting.
  2. Assist with the tax compliance processes by working closely with team members in the tax and accounting departments.

  3. Assist in the review of federal, state and local income tax returns and estimated tax payments and extensions.

  4. Assist in the review of annual tax provision and related analyses for presentation to management.

  5. Assist in responding to inquiries from tax authorities in connection with tax examinations and/or notices.

  6. Assist with ad-hoc domestic compliance and/or projects as they arise.

  7. Alert management of situations that may adversely affect the company’s financial condition.

  8. Assist with OneSource maintenance and other systems relevant to the position.

Person Specification:

Qualification/Knowledge

  • CPA or Corporate Tax experience
  • Masters in Taxation or enrolled towards degree preferred

Skills/Experience

  • 6 - 8 years corporate tax experience in public accounting or industry
  • Strong organization and communication skills – written and oral

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent leadership skills

  • Experience with OneSource tax software

  • Strong excel skills and financial acumen

  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state law

  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
