We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our lean and agile team in our Vancouver, British Columbia Headquarters at 102 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC. This is a regular full-time role that reports to the Director of Finance. The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing a range of manufacturing cost accounting and inventory management to support our automotive operations. The individual needs to be able to manage inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS) and work in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Review bill of material (BOM), track and calculate purchase cost from manufacturing partner
Accrue and reconcile freight cost and duty cost
Prepare intercompany purchase order (PO) and invoice, record and reconcile intercompany transactions to comply with transfer pricing policy and other requirements for arm’s length transactions
Book and review entries in Dealertrack vehicle sales system, check COGS for cars, parts and service orders, bridge entries from DealerTrack to accounting system
Calculate labor cost for assembly and service order, make periodical adjustments
Manage inventory in multiple warehouses and multiple locations, reconcile inventory with 3PL warehouse report, and make periodical inventory adjustment and provision
Review consolidated COGS including BOM, freight and duty, assembly cost, molds and tooling amortization and warrants reserve
Prepare margin analysis for various sales categories and provide markup margin reference for parts
Research accounting policy under IFRS and integrate accounting standard with daily operation
Work with operational team to maintain and improve inventory and COGS management to support business expansion
Assist to set up, test, draft and maintain process and procedures
Assist to set up and maintain internal control
Backup duties for other senior positions in the team
Other ancillary duties as required by your manager
8+ years of experience in an industry accounting role, manufacturing experience is a must, dealership and distribution experiences are desired
Deep understanding of manufacturing cost flow and inventory management, ability to research accounting standard and process complex accounting transactions
Bachelor’s Degree or higher level of education is required for this role
Certified accountant with an appropriate designation (CPA, CA, CMA and CGA).
Experiences with internal control, public company reporting and IFRS are desired
Advance Excel skills and high literacy of accounting software, ability to understand data mapping and connections in various systems to design financial models
A team player with excellent Verbal & Written communication skills to build effective relationships.
Self-starter and fast learner who will take ownership of responsibilities and strive to continuous improvement
This role will be required to work in an office setting.
This role may be required to in a customer service environment – dealing with auditors, suppliers, vendors, business partners, and consumers.
This role may need to travel.
Legally able to work in Canada.
