X-Rite, recognized as one of "West Michigan's Best & Brightest Companies to Work For", is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position is an integral role on the corporate accounting team, working through complex accounting issues, unusual transactions, and projects independently as well as collaboratively with other Finance and cross-functional team members.
Essential Job Functions: 1. Lead the company’s internal control assessment process including: a. Design, develop and test the financial control framework through an annual assessment processes. b. Direct a team of 5 to 10 individuals in the testing and evaluation of control effectiveness within main business processes including revenue recognition, procure to pay, inventory management, general ledger, etc. c. Identify and remediate control deficiencies through collaborative discussions with control owners and driving business process change as needed. d. Present findings and recommendations to CFO. e. Identify control improvement opportunities within established business processes across a global organization.2. Lead the company’s internal audit process including a. Manage comprehensive annual balance sheet review program. b. Manage quarterly revenue recognition process. c. Facilitate internal and external financial audits.3. Lead the North America sales compensation accounting including: a. Manage the North American commission process including interfacing with the sales organization and developing projections as well as payment calculations and monthly accruals. b. Maintain customer royalty and rebate programs including monthly accruals and quarterly payment calculations.4. Participate in month end close process including: a. Execute all close related tasks according to strict timelines. b. Assist with month and quarter end reporting for internal and external purposes.5. Assist with US GAAP research and global accounting policy implementation.6. Assist with acquisition-related work as needed.7. Other projects as directed.8. • 5+ years of professional accounting experience. Experience in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporation operating under Sarbanes-Oxley preferred.• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.• Certified Public Accounting (CPA) preferred.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, project management, accounting, analytical and leadership skills.• Ability to adapt to new situations and apply critical thinking to solve problems.• Travel 5-10%. May include international travel.• Ability to perform the above-mentioned essential job functions.
