Job Description The Senior Accountant supports the financial reporting efforts of manufacturing accounting for two facilities by assisting with respect to month-end close tasks, preparation and review of financial statements, financial data analysis and reporting, account reconciliation, and trouble-shooting accounting-related issues. This position will require regular travel to respective plants, multi-tasking, strong sense of urgency, as well as effective communication.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support in the month-end close process for plant accounting personnel at respective plants
  • Review and analyze plant month-end income statement and balance sheet and investigate unusual or unexpected trends and implement corrective action
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of accounting for the inventory production supplies and supplemental analysis reporting for this process
  • Review AMS reporting, including monitoring for any discrepancies, research pricing variances and market pricing reporting
  • Fulfill inquires and engage in ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed to support departments within and external to the division
  • Coordinate or spearhead various accounting-related projects as assigned by the Assistant Director
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects, data analysis requests and management reporting on multiple levels of management
  • Establish and nurture relationships with intra-office and plant personnel
  • Assist with month-end close, including preparation of journal entries and month-end financial packages/statements
  • Participate and assist with the budgeting and forecasting processes and various supporting analysis
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement within areas of responsibility

Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years' experience in Accounting environment
  • Manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Experience with ERP applications a plus, QuickBooks a plus, SAP preferred

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have willingness to travel up to 30%
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills, including ability to multitask and set priorities for multiple divisions

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • MBA / CPA or further education preferred
