Primary service contact for assigned book of business. Assists with strategic planning and provides consultative advice to clients as needed. Acts as a liaison between client and carrier. Participates in the training and mentoring of junior team members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Responsible for servicing a full book of business which includes preparation of monthly experiencereporting, standard mid-year analysis, development and execution of service schedule, and standard annual management report.
  • Meet with clients alone or in conjunction withAccount Executive (AE) or Unit Manager according to standardized client meeting schedule as needed.
  • Develop strategic client service plans and Coordinate client mid-year/renewals by the following: 
    • Ensure complete execution of mid-year/renewal checklist
    • Prepare renewal report for AE/Unit Manager review
    • Preparation of employee communication materials as needed
    • Schedule and conduct employee meetings when necessary
  • Conduct all marketing efforts  as assigned by unit, which includes: 
    • Ensure complete execution of marketing checklist
    • Development of Request for Proposal (RFP)
    • Coordinate vendor responses and follow-up, Analysis and comparison of proposals
    • Preparation of client report with recommendation for AE/Unit Manager review
  • Handle new carrier and plan implementation and transition.
    • Ensure complete execution of implementation checklist
    • Preparation of implementations schedule
    • Coordinate preparation and delivery of employee communication materials utilizing carrier and client information
    • Schedule and participate in enrollment meetings
  • Review of all agreements and/or documents (employee booklets, carrier contracts, etc.)
  • Review annual commission/fee reconciliation and prepare reporting for AE/Unit Manager.
  • Practice proactive follow-up on all outstanding issues by communicating status of each to the AE/Unit Manager.
  • Prepare monthly service reports by the 10th of the month, including appropriate distribution.


OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provides limited assistance to clients on compliance issues.  Directs clients to seek legal counsel on complex issues.
  • Serve as a trainer for junior team members to include account administrators.
  • Assist less experienced account managers with development of strategic client service plans.
  • Oversee maintenance of permanent master files, financial binders, agency management system and accounting records.
  • Attendance of internal meetings/education programs.
  • Participate in Health Insurance Associate (HIA) and Managed Health Professional (MHP) designation programs. 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a business related field, or equivalent experience in the insurance industry.
  • Typically, 5 years of client services experience in Employee Benefits is required.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to develop sound relationships with multiple clients.
  • Ability to interact with vendors effectively.
  • Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet expertise.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Required insurance licenses or ability to obtain immediately.
  • A firm working knowledge of welfare benefit with a basic understanding of risk and insurance concepts.
  • Good working knowledge of differing financial arrangements and products available to clients (i.e., fully insured, minimum premium, ASO).
  • Basic working knowledge of federal and state legislation and legal issues related to the insurance industry.
  • Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft, and stay for more than one day and night.
  • Legally able to work in the United States.
