Job Summary:

The Segment Manager reports into Product Line Safety and Power Management (PL – SPM). The SPM product line develops and markets a broad portfolio of power management products in the secure connected vehicle, end-to-end security & privacy, and smart connected solutions.  The SPM business is also a leader in safety across multiple markets, most notably automotive.

PL SPM is looking for a Segment Manager with experience in power management for automotive applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the business related to the market segment. This includes direct responsibility for the roadmap, product definition, customer support, product execution, and the successful go to market for the complete product. Ultimately, the success of our business within the market segment is largely the responsibility of the segment manager. The segment manager works with upper management to align the strategy for the segment with the goals of SPM and overall NXP analog.

We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated creative problem solvers that can work with little direct oversight in a collaborative environment, and can motivate their team members to do the same. An ideal candidate also possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and time management skills with experience managing a technical team. Superior candidates can synthesize complex problems into specific and actionable proposed product solutions, and has a track record of defining products and successfully taking them to market.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team that defines, and supports, power management I.C.’s for the assigned market segment.
  • Define, build, and drive a business plan that supports the defined product.
  • Propose new products to drive the product roadmap that ensures that the business will have a plan for sustainable differentiation in our products
  • Collaborate with customers, internal engineering teams (design, product, test, engineers), sales management, other NXP internal partners, to define system and performance requirements, feature set, go to market plan, and architecture definition for the proposed products.
  • Understand competitive offerings, process technologies, packaging options, thermal/power analysis, design/system constraints and trade-offs and propose viable solutions for the target products.
  • Own the development and definition of a detailed product specification, to enable design phase, with associated product validation test plans
  • Define and implement the supporting material that is required for the go to market plan at the right time (Reference designs, evaluation boards, supporting documentation, marketing documentation, etc).
  • Negotiate product specification details with customers while also having the ability to articulate the linkage between performance criteria and device specs.
  • Define market requirements, technical definition trade-offs and validate value propositions and competitive analysis.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to participate in internal functional team and customer meetings in locations around the world.

Job Qualifications:

Skills Required

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with successful experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Outstanding skills at communicating high-level conceptual or system concepts and detailed technical requirements (both in writing and orally) with internal teams and customers.
  • Knowledgeable about automotive quality (AEC-100) and reliability requirements, safety analysis methods (FMEA, FTA) and familiar with functional safety standards such as ISO26262 is a plus.

Experience

  • 10 years or more Power management experience, preferably in automotive applications
  • 3 years or more Experience in managing, and building a technical team
  • Prior experienceworking with Automotive Tier 1 or 2 suppliers in defining, implementing, or supporting products is desired.
  • Familiarity with requirements tracking tools such as IBM DOORS is a strong plus
  • Experience with collaborating and managing international customers in Europe and Asia desired.

Education

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical or Electronics engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
