The Security Engineer II will perform a combination of security design and implementation work, as well as security testing and implementation of new products or enhancements. This position will also conduct client penetration and vulnerability testing and reporting. They will be responsible for the support of the production environment and ensuring that the appropriate security policies and practices are implemented and enforced. In addition, they will support the sales organization in all technical matters regarding pre-sales, sales calls, and post-sales. The Security Engineer II will be the main technical resource throughout the sales process and will answer and educate the customer on issues ranging from features, specifications and functionality to integration.


  • Deploys, manages and maintains all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, cryptography systems, and anti-virus software
  • Provides security related reporting to management and clients as appropriate
  • Designs, implements, and reports on security system and end user activity audits
  • Performs testing and implementation of security related products, practices and policies
  • Develops, implemens, maintains, and oversees enforcement of policies, procedures and associated plans for system security administration and user system access based on industry-standard best practices
  • Participates in the design and implementation of a security plan and a disaster recovery plan
  • Recommends, schedules (where appropriate), and apply fixes, security patches, disaster recovery procedures, and any other measures required in the event of a security breach
  • Keeps current with emerging security alerts and issues
  • Assisst with monitoring the overall operation of company and client networks and participate in problem resolution
  • Contacts hardware and software vendors to resolve technical problems
  • Provides end-user support and training for security related products, practices and policies
  • Liaise between sales, product management, engineering and other departments
  • Aids in the proposal process through documentation review and quote approval
  • Supports the overall qualification of prospects based upon their technology infrastructure
  • Educates qualified prospects on how the EOJ solution is compatible with their IT environment
  • Assists with a needs analysis on the client's network and technology spending
  • Manages and/or provides guidance to junior members of the team
  • Maintains a working knowledge of EOJ products and services
  • Provides customers and Locknet sales staff with technical product advice and support during pre-sales discussions - onsite, remotely or at trade events
  • Provides technical services to clients relating to use, operation, and management of technology
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • College diploma or university degree in the field of information technology
  • A minimum of 4 years' work experience with technology
  • A minimum of 2 years' work experience with security


  • Bachelor's degree in in the field of information technology

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • CEH (Certified Ethical hacker)
  • Security +
  • GIAC GSEC (Global Information Assurance Certification)
  • SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)


  • Broad hands-on knowledge of firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices
  • In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols
  • Intuition and keen instincts to pre-empt attacks
  • Hands-on experience with devices such as firewalls, switches, and routers
