What You’ll Do

In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing the volume of inbound organic traffic from search engines to a website. This is accomplished through a combination of on-page and off-page techniques, including link-building, social media strategy, viral marketing, metadata sculpting, site speed optimization, content strategy, information architecture, and more. As a Search Strategist, you will work with a portfolio of clients to develop and maintain an effective search engine optimization (SEO) campaign. You will craft search strategies, create optimized client content, execute technical optimization, perform link building and implement social mediacampaigns to bolster clients’ online visibility. You will be responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, as well as staying abreast of search marketing trends.

 What You’ll bring to the Doghouse

  • Strong examples of developing search strategy to achieve client KPIs and goals
  • Proven experience identifying keywords, and organizing them, to devise rationale for both organic (SEO) and paid (SEM) search
  • Understanding of basic factors that deliver organic search rank, including basic technical factors (such as load times, mobile rendering, crawl errors and more)
  • Understanding of basic factors that deliver paid search rank, including basics such as ad quality, score and basic ad groups structure
  • Ability to articulate competitive opportunities and threats, and using competitive data to strengthen search plans for clients
  • Experience providing input to a creative team, such as copywriters, designers and user experience staff, in order to influence content strategy, for purposes of driving high search rank
  • Proven success in link building and viral strategies
  • Solid grasp of how blogging, press releases, social media, and related strategies go hand-in-hand with SEO
  • Experience in building inbound organic search traffic and improving SERPs
  • A background in creating reports showing web analytics data and site evaluations
  • An up-to-date, working knowledge of current, past, and projected trends both in paid & organic
  • Familiarity with the best tools in the trade, such as exposure to Marin Software, Kenshoo, or similar
  • Certification preferred


  •  BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Statistics and/or other related degrees or equivalent experience
  • Passionate about search, with 3-5 years managing SEO/SEM in-house or at an agency; B2B experience Superior problem solver; you’re always up for a new challenge or new initiative
  • Hands-on use of basic tools of the search trade, including Keyword Planning tools (minimum Google or Bing, nice-to-haves include SEMRush and similar), Webmaster Tools, Moz, AdWords, Bing, Excel, SpyFu and others
  • Optimistic attitude, resourcefulness, and proactive
  • Highly organized; you take notes and don’t need to be told twice what to do
  • Strong business acumen and enthusiasm about identifying media trends and marketing opportunities
