The Scrum Master will be responsible for leading the agile transformation at the team level and for the successful execution of one or more teams to support the delivery of strategic technology products. They will provide leadership, direction, and coaching to the team(s) to encourage adoption of agile principles and practices, avoiding anti-patterns, and will empower the team to become self-directed and self-managing.

The Scrum Master will facilitate execution and will remove impediments, or assist the team in doing so, to allow the team to achieve their sprint and/or PI objectives. They will work to establish a trusting and safe team environment. They act as a servant leader, lead by example, and always protect the team.

Scrum Master Competencies

Assertive: Must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adopted at the team level. Ability to recognize when team is making decisions that impact overall release train direction and escalate as appropriate.

Attitude of empowerment: Must be able to lead team(s) to self-organization

Attitude of transparency: Must desire to bring disclosure and transparency to both business and IT and grow to grow trust amongst partners

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a Scrum Master for one or more Agile teams within a Release Train/Value Stream
  • Establish team level cadence and drive team level ceremonies (e.g. sprint planning, team retrospectives, backlog grooming, etc.)
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to the team to encourage adoption of good agile practices
  • Encourage and facilitate cross-team coordination and collaboration
  • Remove impediments for the team(s) and escalate as appropriate
  • Facilitate management of the scrum team's dependencies between the program team and third parties, release managers, or other scrum teams
  • Maintain metrics that provide visibility to stakeholders on team-level progress and quality
  • Gathering and updating project materials, including managing budget, demand forecasting, enabling scrum team time entry and other status and release documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of IT experience (SDLC)
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach
  • 1+ years of experience working on large scale, multiple Scrum team projects
  • Experience acting as a Scrum Master for one or more distributed scrum teams
  • Experience leading agile transformation at the team level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile / Scrum Industry Certification(s)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Experience with CA Agile Central and Clarity project management tools
  • Healthcare experience
  • Medicaid Encounter Reporting Experience
  • Understanding of the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency with MS Project
