This role is to support a newly formed Scrum team that will be among the first agile teams working on behalf of a long-standing customer. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of the Scrum framework, and experience necessary to support a team’s rapid progress through the ‘Forming Storming-Norming-Performing’ cycle, and to coach effective collaboration between the team and their designated Product Owner. Work Location: Rensselaer, NY (Albany metro)

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and facilitate the activities of the Scrum Framework
  • Coach effective product ownership and backlog refinement
  • Coach continual team improvement
  • Own and resolve impediments
  • Act as a Servant Leader for the team and product owner
  • Visualize and manage project risks and issues. Drive resolution of most risks and issues
  • Resolve conflicts as they arise
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Support the use of forward-utility focused metrics and reports
  • Support enterprise program management improvement and standardization activities
  • Support and improve collaboration with customers, staff, contractors, and management

Required Skills:

  • Deep understanding of Agile processes and Scrum, with at least three years of experience working as part of Scrum team (as Scrum Master, Product Owner, Team Member, or a combination thereof)
  • At least one year prior experience serving as a Scrum Master
  • Experience as a Product Owner is a plus
  • Experience using Agile Tools such as JIRA, Rally, or VersionOne
  • Experience supporting or leading transition from Waterfall to Scrum is a plus
  • Demonstrated leadership in process improvement and innovation
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) or more years of experience working as part of a Scrum team. At least 1 Year of experience in the role of Scrum Master.

Required Certifications:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master I or II (PSM1 / PSM2)

Desired Certifications:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner, Certified Scrum Professional, PMI-ACP
