The Senior Scientist role is part of the dedicated Point of Care (POC) Sustaining Assay Engineering team responsible for coordinating support activities for in vitro diagnostics (IVD) instruments and consumables. The team works closely with R&D, Service, Manufacturing, Marketing and Quality to investigate and drive corrective actions in response to field issues, resolve manufacturing obsolescence and manufacturing quality issues, lead design change projects aimed at improving product quality and reliability as well as cost reduction programs.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader within the R&D function and work within a team of scientists and engineers focused on the continuous improvement and field support of current blood gas devices and consumables. The candidate will be responsible to drive to closure escalated field and manufacturing issues for Blood Gas products.
Investigate field complaints and drive to closure by documenting technical summaries per assigned due dates. Identify and assess trends in field data for consumable products. Develop and execute experiments to assess product performance and/or reliability. Perform data analysis and write technical reports to support product investigations and feasibility for design and process changes. Working with the team, this candidate will support the identification and proposal of new projects aimed at improving customer experiences with current assays. It will be the candidate’s responsibility as a team member to develop the identified improvements and support the transfer of these into validation and manufacturing. This candidate must be able to work independently and as a team member to accomplish assigned tasks. Due to the cross functional nature of this position, the candidate must be able to forge strong working relations with a wide range of functions and technical disciplines

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
B.Sc in Chemistry, BioMedical Engineering or Biology with a minimum of 8years of suitable and proven experience or M.S. in related field with minimum of 5 years applicable industry experience in the medical diagnostics field. Travel may be up to 10% for this position.
