Job Description

The Scientist is responsible for providing scientific support for the measurement product portfolio. They will provide scientific input to several aspects of the business including projects/orders, proposals, and solutions. This includes but is not limited to: working closely with hardware and software engineering in the development of solutions and in the execution of projects; assisting in responding to technical inquiries; contributing technical input in support of developing requirement specifications for new proposals and projects; independently analyzing the performance and application of existing and new analysis techniques; writing test procedures and providing documentation; presenting results to internal and external audiences. The Scientist is also responsible for providing subject matter expertise that helps sustain existing products and applications, extend applications, and develop new solutions. The scientist is regarded within the company as an expert in at least two application areas

You have a sense of responsibility to deliver within expectations and you communicate well with others in all aspects of your role.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • As a Scientist you are expected to work on at least two concurrent projects without guidance.
  • It is your responsibility to maintain and grow your application knowledge through both formal and informal on-the-job training and development. In addition, you are expected to share your knowledge by developing and/or giving training in the areas of your expertise.
  • You are expected to become an SME in at least two application areas and have sufficient knowledge to work (with guidance) on adjacent applications within the business line.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

The successful Scientist will possess the following skills:
  • Mature understanding of radiation detection and measurement equipment.
  • Solid grasp of mathematics and statistical concepts.
  • Some experience in programming, python or C++.
  • Some application-specific knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum BS or equivalent in Science or Engineering.
  • MS or equivalent in Science or Engineering can equate to 2 years of experience.
  • PhD or equivalent in Science or Engineering can equate to 5 years of experience.
  • A scientist should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant application.
