The Scientist will effectively and frequently collaborate with colleagues within Janssen Biotherapeutics as well as the partners supported.

 As a Scientist, you will:

  • Design, perform and interpret assay development and validation experiments with a high level of independence
  • Proactively investigate and develop improvements to assay methodology based on the business needs
  • Analyze and report data in accordance with requirements set forth by the department
  • Record experimental data accurately in highly organized electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication
  • Ensure maintenance of assigned laboratory equipment
  • Follow appropriate SOPs and all internal documentation requirements
  • Review current literature and demonstrates expertise related to his/her field
  • Critically review scientific work produced by peers and team members

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline with at least with at least 12 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting OR Master’s in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline with at least 9 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting OR a PhD in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline is required
  • Laboratory experience working with therapeutic proteins and/or protein biomarkers is required
  • Developing pharmacokinetic, immune response and/or soluble target engagement assays on ELISA, MSD, Gyros, Quanterix, Singulex and/or similar assay platforms, is required
  • Previous experience developing “free” and “total” target engagement assays, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, and protein purification techniques (protein A/G, immunoaffinity, etc.) is preferred
  • Previous experience validating assays in a Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) setting is preferred  
  • Previous experience with mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, automation platforms (e.g. Hamilton STAR), Watson LIMS and electronic lab notebooks is preferred
