Sales Tax Manager

Fairfield, NJ



This position is responsible for managing salestax compliance and accruals for the company. It will also require the ability to coordinate the completion of the automation of the salestax function and working on special projects as a team leader. This position offers excellent opportunities for leadership and career advancement for the right candidate. 



?        Oversee the transaction tax operational compliance which includes preparing and reviewing returns for accuracy and timely processing.

?        Managing the salestax assessment function utilizing our Filebridge Accounts Payable and Oracle accounting system.

?        Automate the preparation of our salestax returns utilizing the above systems and Vertex software.

?        Provide research and guidance to the business units as it relates to sales and use tax matters across all 50 states. Keep informed of current salestax developments and effectively applytax knowledge to our business.

?        Actively engage internal and external partners to answer tax questions and provide timely and accurate advice on transaction tax matters.

?        Investigate and resolve inquiries from tax agencies as they relate to sales and use tax.

?        Manage all state salestax examinations, including the support and defense of salestax positions.

?        Review monthly tax accrual and effectively analyze general ledger account activities.

?        Work with various internal teams, leading process efficiency projects and documentation.

?        Managing and training staff to ensure timely work product to meet statutory deadlines.

?        Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

?        Prepare practical and effective approaches to the tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions. Share ideas with others. Participate in and contribute to achieving team goals. Assist in the development of recommendations and implementation plans and assist in making quality decisions in complex areas.

?        Supports and exhibits behavior consistent with the philosophy of the company. 

?        Acts with diplomacy as a representative of our company.

?        Performs other related duties as required.


?        Bachelor's degree in accounting and 7-10 years? work experience as a tax professional preferred.

?        Strong accounting and analytical skills.

?        Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

?        Strong computer skills, Excel proficiency required.

?        Vertex experience a plus.

$110K - $120K
$110K - $120K base, Bonus Eligible bonus
