Role Summary/Purpose: A Sales Specialist thrives in quick sales cycle environments and is responsible for contacting potential new customers, handling needs of existing customers, and advancing/ closing the sales process. The Sales Specialist will work closely with other sales representatives, Field Applications Engineers, and internal manufacturers for product pricing and availability. A successful Sales Specialist plays a fundamental role in achieving ambitious customer acquisition and revenue growth objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

In the role ofSales Specialist, you will:

  • Seek out and contacting potential customers, requesting and scheduling sample product orders, coordinating customer meetings with other sales consultants, cold calling, generating sales leads, and receiving and reviewing new purchase orders
  • Perform continuous market research to locate and develop new customer contacts and sales opportunities
  • Source new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound cold calls and campaigns
  • Understand customer needs and requirements
  • Route qualified opportunities to the appropriate sales managers for further development and closure
  • Manage existing clients for continued growth and performance versus operating plan (OP)
  • Drive orders and convertibility of orders (sales) to achieve targets and year-over-year growth
  • Research accounts, identify key players and generate interest
  • Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with clients across multi-layered organizations and expand a database of prospects within an assigned territory, sub-region or product base
  • Receive marketing qualified leads from internal Demand Generation team and conduct sales qualification process to build pipeline
  • Support trade shows, vendor days, and client learning sessions by presenting Asset Condition Monitoring (ACM) solutions, business cases, and other client marketing presentation material
  • Perform effective demos to prospective customers (as appropriate)
  • Negotiate contracts including: commercial terms, pricing and fulfillment of all compliance requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in Sales

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Travel 10% of the time, as required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and multitasking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to execute and drive results
  • Experience with standard customer-service and sales-database programs (i.e. or similar CRM)
  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Able to learn and develop technical knowledge in their product field
  • Strong phone presence and experience dialing dozens of calls per day
  • Strong problem solving skills, with an emphasis on innovative and creative solutions that result in higher profitability
  • Experience communicating with both internal and external customers
  • Proficient with corporate productivity and web presentation tools
  • Proactive work style, creativity, high energy
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (BHGE employees only)
