The Sales Representative should have experience in the regulated energy and pipeline industry. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with software applications and services that support pipeline integrity management, regulations, engineering, and operations. The ideal candidate must also understand the added value of Global Information Systems in addressing integrity management challenges, improving operational efficiency and regulatory compliance, and improving pipeline data management.  Global Information Systems knowledge is preferred, but not necessary.


Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include commission based on achievement of quotas.


The position of Sales Representative reports to the Vice President of Strategic Development.  Responsibilities are presented in order of priority a­­­nd include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build and maintain a high-volume pipeline of potential business for software and services
  • Conduct lead generation activities and identify new business opportunities in the oil and gas (O&G) pipeline industry
  • Meet individual software and services sales quotas to achieve company-wide revenue goals
  • Set and achieve monthly and quarterly sales activity benchmarks (i.e. number of meetings/demos, cold calls, email search, etc.) to achieve sales quotas
  • Work closely with the Software Operations team on proposal creation, review, and delivery
  • Work closely with the Software Operations Analyst to track proposal initiation, delivery, and won/lost dates
  • Participate in weekly revenue forecast meetings
  • Participate in Marketing and Software Product Owner meetings
  • Expect to travel to client sites and/or events 25% to 50%
  • Become proficient demonstrating applications; work with IT to maintain demonstration environment/tools
  • Conduct web and in-person demonstrations of software and coordinate sales meetings with subject matter experts
  • Represent New Century Software at industry trade shows and association committees such as Pipeline Week, ESRI, PUG, SGA, LGA, API, International Pipeline Conference, and otherevents
  • Develop PowerPoint sales presentations and materials to support sales cycle and process
  • Track and manage assigned accounts, sales activity, leads, proposal status, etc. via Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Provide exceptional account management to nurture partnerships with existing customers, including annual coordination of maintenance and support renewals
  • Collaborate with the Marketing, Software, Integrity Plus, and Support teams in qualifying, developing, and selling solutions and services


  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • Two to three years of Pipeline and GIS industry experience
  • Three to five years of experience selling software and service solutions
  • Enterprise computing knowledge and appropriate technical background is desirable
  • Track record of successful software and services sales within the O&G or related industry
  • Experience selling software and services solutions at the Executive Level
  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline operations and GIS data management
  • Very strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to manage leads and opportunities using a CRM
  • Solid business understanding, specifically related to communicating with customers and internal colleagues
  • Excellent work ethic, displaying dependability and commitment to New Century Software’s success and core values
