Sales Manager, National Accounts Sales




The Sales Manager is to aggressively sell a wide variety of products to current and potential clients.  They must identify qualified prospective clients, establish marketing strategies, set forth staff responsibilities and timetables to achieve set sales goals. Sales Manager is responsible to manage his/her accounts with the internal team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Contact Management

?        Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully managing the sales team.

?        Design and implement a strategic business plan that expands company?s customer base and ensure its strong presence across United States.

?        Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.

?        Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team.

?        Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.

?        Make initial and repetitive sales contact with prospective and current customers. Explain features of our services, cost, and advantages.

?        Travel to customer offices on a regular basis-frequency will be based on size, activity, and potential of the account.

?        Prepare and submit quotes (using standard quote form outline), and follow up and bring closure to all open quotes.

?        Secure the purchase order or written commitment to proceed with the order.

?        Obtain reorders with revisions in pricing, lead-time, or terms when required.

?        Ensure that information needed for credit approval is collected and that the credit approval occurs in a timely manner.

?        Assist in collection of past due bills, and invoicing issues.

?        Monitor customer inventory and review monthly with customer.

?        Reviews orders for ideas to expand services available to present customers.

?        Own recruiting, objectives setting, coaching and performance monitoring of sales representatives.


Account Management


?        Accept full account responsibility for customer satisfaction.

?        Obtain target pricing when possible on all new bids and programs.

?        Complete Quote Request Forms and process timely.

?        Identify specialized customer needs and communicate those needs to the internal team.

?        Work with inside customer team to keep account activities and literature up to date.


Sales Management


?        Develop annual account plans for each account for approval by General Manager.

?        Prepare annual sales forecast for assigned accounts, and update monthly.

?        Prepare and submit monthly account status reports to General Manager. This would include both current accounts and prospective accounts.

?        Prepare and post a monthly calendar of daily activities, which should be updated weekly.

?        Submit win/loss results on all submitted closed quotations on a weekly basis.

?        Attend trade shows, as directed.

?        Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.

?        Maintains customer data and othersales data for current and prospective customers.


Requirements & Qualifications:


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.


?        A minimum of 10 years of direct sales experience is required. Experience developing a new market segment is preferred. A bachelor?s degree (business or marketing) or equivalent experience is required.

?        Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets in the Food, Cosmetics, Nutraceutical and/or Pharmaceutical industry.

?        Committed to continuous education through workshops, seminars and conferences.

?        Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization.

?        Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close and strong business sense and industry expertise.

?        Excellent mentoring, coaching, people management skills and work effectively with a variety of people.

?        Possess strong persuasive skills, close the sale in a fair, honest manner without over promising company capabilities, be a team player, able to work successfully with interdependent teams, be self-motivated, a ?self-starter?, be willing and able to travel.

?        Be able skilled in using MS Office applications.

 Essential Skills:


Strong sales, communication and negotiation skills are essential. Sales Manager must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing. They must be able to accurately interpret customer requirements effectively to appropriate internal team members, as needed.
