Sales Manager / Market Manager - Outdoor Technical Products
The leader we seek would have some management and sales experience with some form of custom engineered technical product(s) and like outdoor activities / sports and would enjoy an adventurous and competitive customer base. If this sounds like you please read on!
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business. BSME ideal or other technical undergraduate programs, along with some graduate work in business, sales and marketing - MBA desired.
Some work experience in sales management, account management, marketing, product or project management, applications engineering or sales engineering would provide a good foundation for this leadership position.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop recommendations based on thorough analysis of data and market information. Experience with and/or understanding of channels, market segments, distribution and retail, Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to work cooperatively and effectively with managers, associates and customers.
The tools and experience in this position are the same needed to manage $5M company.
Including Profit and Loss Responsibility, Development of sales forecasts and sales and marketing plans.
Responsible for the account management, sales and marketing of products via distributors and retailers for a $5M US business segment of a $200M private global company
Responsible for Profit and Loss
Prepare Sales & Marketing plans
Develop sales forecasts for the market
Select, guide and coach sales representatives as necessary and arrange training as needed
Jointly agree on sales targets and goals with sales reps
Ensure that sales reps have appropriate product knowledge
Direct overall account management in coordination with and the support of the Marketing.
Monitor replenishment process
Responsible for trade shows and promos as needed
Visit key customers
Financial analysis / Recommend product selection and pricing and analysis
Resolve any account issues
Cross-train other managers and customer service personnel in designated markets
Evaluate profitability by product line and recommend additions and deletions.
30-40% out of office Domestic Travel to customers, distributors, trade shows and events and some light international travel.
