Johnson Electric (JE) is excited to announce we are now recruiting for a Sales Engineer with 5+ years experience in Sales for our Plymouth, MI office.

The Sales Engineer (SE) will be responsible for providing technical support to North American customers for products in the washer pump and electric power steering (EPS) application areas. The SE is responsible for managing technical relationships with current and prospective customers, and for coordination of technical, program management and quality-related issues \with BI BU personnel and other activities within Johnson Electric North America to ensure strong support for the both the customer and JE objectives. The SE will function as regional subject matter expert within his targeted applications for product specifications and customer's application requirements, and will support the Segment Director in developing overall NA BI BU product strategy. Position requires strong technical acumen and strategic thinking, with basic understanding of commercial impact of the technical requirements being developed with customers. SE will need experience and judgment to identify customer opportunities where JE's products/capabilities can offer value-added solutions. Experience in washer pump and/or steering system applications is highly desireable.

Responsibilities:

Support growth of JE's NAFTA washer pump and EPS motor business by developing new opportunities with existing and new customers as assigned by Segment Director.
- Frequent interaction with customer's engineering teams to identify potential applications
- Negotiate technical specifications with customer engineering & resolve issues
- Prepare & deliver technical review presentations to customers & address issues
- Function as primary interface to customer's technical decision-makers

Assist Segment Director with technical & quality issues for existing accounts to maintain customer satisfaction
- Function as primary interface to customer's technical decision-makers
- Maintain close communication with customer's engineering, quality and project management teams
- Lead resolution of technical, quality & program management issues with current customers
- Technical support to customer for new program launch issues

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelordegree in Engineering
  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
  • 5+ years of sales experience with technical products in the automotive industry; prefer experience with motor/actuator products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sound leadership and communication skills. Able to drive/increase business growth & able to distill major issues from background noise.
  • Commercially aware regarding market, products, business capability, and services. Strategic thinker on markets, products, and projects
  • Strong electro-mechanical aptitude, understands complex motion systems, and able to apply knowledge/skills to advance Johnson Electric's products as solutions to customers' needs
  • Working knowledge of automotive program management and engineering development processes
  • Experience working within multi-cultural companies is a strong plus as spending time at the customer sites developing relationships with various levels & disciplines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical, financial, and reasoning skills
  • Contract negotiation issues, pricing/profitability issues, customer issues requiring escalation to JE management. Understands current business financial measurement tools with ability to quickly analyze and conclude on complex data and risks
  • Position requires highest level of integrity, working remotely with frequent communications from the field. Estimated 20-30% local and international travel, global communication requiring scheduling flexibility (e.g. periodic evening teleconferences)
