Highlights
The Sales Engineer II provides consultative pre- and post-sales technical support for Midmarket sales teams. In this role, you will evaluate client networking requirements for the sale of fiber services, including Private Networking Solutions based on MEF standards, voice and cloud solutions. The position will focus on showing prospective Mid-Market clients how Spectrum Enterprise?s innovative solutions will help satisfy their growing complex technology and communications needs today and in the future.
What you will do

  • Evaluate status and perform needs analysis on current client networks
  • Engineer standard and non-standard solutions to address client requirements
  • Design client-centric solutions for complex services
  • Prepare and present technical sales proposals
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams to develop and support offerings
  • Serve as liaison between clients, sales and other internal departments
  • Deliver post-sale documentation and support
  • Provide technical support to Sales Engineer I and internal sales team
  • Review all proposed solutions for Midmarket clients
  • Consistently upgrade knowledge of Spectrum Enterprise products and services
  • Maintain industry knowledge and awareness of emerging technology trends
  • Perform additional duties related to this position as assigned, including attending training and meetings

Required keys for success

  • Three or more years of experience in telecommunications sales engineering and networking
  • Knowledge of Metro Ethernet (DPL, EVPL, ELAN), and LAN/WAN technologies
  • Strong knowledge of networking technologies such as TCP/IP, IP VPN, MPLS, VPLS, Ethernet, VoIP, SONET, DWDM
  • Extensive experience with voice networking and routing protocols
  • Working knowledge of converged multimedia applications
  • Experience in Data and Voice communications and IP Security Strategies
  • Understanding of market business drivers, trends and regulatory/technical shifts
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Visio
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills

How you will stand out from the crowd

  • Two or more years of experience in the service provider industry
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals related to routers, switches, DS3, OC-x, CSU/DSU and other CPE
  • Adept at multi-tasking and meeting multiple deadlines
  • Skilled at quickly conducting consultative analysis and providing recommendations
  • Able to work with sales executives throughout the sales cycle
  • Strong sales proposal design and presentation skills
  • Experience developing long-term relationships with key decision makers
  • Familiarity with our product suite

Your education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Bachelor?s Degree in a related field (preferred)
  • CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CCDP, MEF-CECP certification (preferred)
