The Sales Engineer I will be covering the Colorado territory and will work remotely. Position will be responsible for facilitating better communications and understanding of customer requirements between customers, the field and partners. They will create, present and document technical solutions and perform in-depth and high-level technical presentations and/or demonstrations for customers and prospects. Develops and maintains knowledge of the entire company portfolio of products and services, yet is developing very deep expertise in assigned technology areas. Has strong knowledge of the competitor’s products and is expected to overcome technical objections via research and partnering with more senior-level experts. They are key contributors in developing accurate sales proposals, product demonstrations, customer trials and post sales customer satisfaction.


  • Supports Channel Account Managers (CAM) and Territory Account Managers (TAM) to engage in customer opportunities where Mitel solutions are being proposed. This can be through a Mitel channel partner or directly with an end customer
  • Works with the sales lead to discover and understand the customer needs and requirements
  • Designs a solution that will meet the customer's requirements, including the sales configuration (e.g. CPQ), an architectural representation (e.g. Visio diagram) and a solution summary (e.g Sales Engineering Document)
  • Responsible for participating in the solution presentation to describe the key attributes of the engineered design including features and applications, disaster recovery capabilities, business needs addressed and integration into customer systems as required. In short, the benefits of the Mitel solution to meet the customers agreed upon requirements
  • Responsible for providing relevant product demonstrations to validate the solution’s value to the customer at the correct knowledge level appropriate to the audience
  • Responsible for obtaining technical closure from the technical stakeholders through design explanation, relevant demonstrations, adequate documentation and involving subject matter experts, solutions specialists for technical deep dives or Demo Systems Group to assist with Proof of Concept implementations when required
  • Develop relationships with SE peers at channel partners
  • Gain reputable perception from partners
  • Provide channelpartner with product updates (e.g. new software and product releases)
  • Teach basic how to use Mitel applications for demonstration, tools and configurations (e.g. CPQ, Infochannel)
  • Ensure product bulletins are known
  • Help ensure partner lab/demo gear is kept up to date
  • Stay up to date on Mitel Bulletins, Product Briefs, General Information Guides (GIG), Sales Engineering Guidelines and Solutions Guides
  • Proficient with End User Experience and Administration Demonstrations for all of Mitel’s core products
  • Participate in at least one SME team
  • Develop competitive knowledge of Mitel’s business offerings and value proposition


  • 3+ years related experience
  • Mitel product experience and/or relevant experience with competitor or ISV offerings in solution area are preferred
  • Demonstrable track record of sales engineering or consulting in general business or specific industries in sales support, solutions planning, Implementation and Operational background is required.
  • Mitel product experience and/or relevant experience with competitor or ISV offerings in solution area are preferred
  • Complete Mitel Sales Professional
  • Complete MiVoice Certifications (both Office and Business)
  • Complete MiCollab Certifications
  • Complete MiVoice Business & MiCollab Sales Engineering Certification
  • Advanced LAN/WAN Training or existing network certification


  • Requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent
  • Multiple industry and vendor certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, Avaya preferred
