Safety Manager - RT

Horicon, Wisconsin 53032

Your Responsibilities

As a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for safety and health performance and compliance for our Horicon Works: Downtown, 101, Gator Works and Swan Road Test Site locations. You will report to the Factory Manager and oversee health and safety for over 1300 wage and salaried employees and over 200 acres/1.6 million square feet of manufacturing floor space including primary steel cutting, kitting, welding, machining, paint, vehicle assembly and test operations. Within this role, you will:

  • Develop and direct the implementation of an effective safety program
  • Plan, design, implement, and evaluate safety standards and processes to ensure they meet regulatory and compliance requirements for safe workplace in programs like confined space, Lock out/Tag out and lifts and hoists
  • Identify an audit process and program to proactively review the manufacturing environment and identify improvements to mitigate risks
  • Provide health and safety leadership to the factory, including setting the leadership tone for an intensive safety focus and culture with all employees
  • Lead the company union safety committee and drive data analysis for innovative solutions
  • Administer and audit the safety program for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Assure compliance with government and regulatory agencies as well as company requirements, including administration of workers compensationclaims
  • Provide leadership and serve as a resource to operations management in the area of health and safety
  • Interact with external agencies as the agent of the unit in both a strategic and tactical role

  • Proven record of leading and mentoring cross-functional teams
  • Strong investigative skills
  • Ability to travel domestically, up to 15%

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1.         Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or, 8+ years of safety experience

2.     Knowledge of manufacturing processes

3.     Demonstrated leadership capabilities; leading through influence

4.     Demonstrated experience related to Occupational Health & Safety administration

5.     within a manufacturing or industrial environment

6.     Experiencewith workmen's compensation and case management

7.     Experiencewith root cause analysis and trend analysis

8.     Proven record of leading and mentoring cross-functional teams
