Safety Manager, Canada
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Industrial maintenance or technical degree. Safety certification training (e.g., CRSP, BCSP, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information, MSDA, CHSC) is considered an asset. Candidate must have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in occupational health and safety within an industrial or service environment. Thorough knowledge and understanding of Canadian Provincial and workers’ compensation legislation. Strong organizational skills. Proficiency with database applications and administration systems.
? Manage all health, safety and environmental related aspects of area of responsibility that includes all Canadian service locations.
? Build strong relationships with Location/Branch/District Leaders and Managers and Coach as required.
? Supply a monthly report to Country Manager, District Managers and Region Safety Director detailing all safety incidents, safety violations and concerns
? Implement, develop and follow-up on Country and Region safety policies and procedures
? Create, implement and follow-up on any safety procedures and practices as needed for Canada Area where Provincial law are different from Region policies and procedures
?Travel as required to conduct/support safety meetings, safety training, safety audits, risk assessments and assistance as needed at customer sites, all service branches, factories and other Konecranes workplaces in AOR on a frequent basis
? Create partnerships with key customer safety contacts and respond to all customer safety concerns and questions throughout AOR and/or assist branch managers with the same
? Assist local management with creating and maintaining safety training records. Audit that records are being loaded and kept up to date.
? Chair and guide the health and safety committee to meet legislative requirements in all Provinces
? Lead all Accident safety investigations by working with the local Managers, HR and the Regional legal Team in the preparation of accident and incident investigation reports. Where/when instructed, communicate with the customers about the findings.
? Assist, advise, follow-up and/or implement with local management, corrective actions on all incidents and near hits in AOR
? Advise AOR management and Region Safety Director on statistics/trends.
? Lead the investigation and conduct Root Cause Analysis on all lost time injury/illness and/or significant near hit incidents
? Assist local manager and/or claims manager with the immediate and/or early return-to-work of any injured employee
? Assist claims manager with gathering information from branch manager with regards to claimsreports as needed?
? Provide and support Safety and Health related information to responsible manager/person to assist in their completing vendor pre-qualification questionnaires and packages
? Monitor, update and/or provide support to maintain a favorable safety grading with TPAs (ISNet etc…)
? Conduct regular research on new trends and critical developments related and Safety and Health and share with AOR
? Develop and deliver safety training programs
? Coordinate with the Group safety programs, policies and other Safety Managers to share best practices and participate in Group safety developments
? Represent Konecranes by maintaining contact with and participating in provincial Safety and Health associations and represent Konecranes with customers, government agencies and third party administrators
Requirements of Role:
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
