We are looking for Safety Engineer I (Environmental, Health and Safety) for our client in New Brunswick, NJ

Job Title: Safety Engineer I (Environmental, Health and Safety)

Job Location: New Brunswick, NJ

Job Type: Contract 12 Months / Contract to Hire / Direct Hire

Job Description:

Coordinate and improve EHS&S programs and procedures for the New Brunswick Campus including but not limited to:
Aboveground and underground storage tank program
Air permitting
Spill pollution, Control & Countermeasures Plan (SPCC)
Work Permit program
Waste and recycling programs
Chemical management, Hazard Communication, PPE programs
Inspection and auditing program
Contractor safety and project management initiatives
Ergonomics
Electrical safety
Fall prevention
Other EHS&S programs as necessary
Support EHS Management Systems and continued certification of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
Maintain EHS Compliance Calendar of all Departmental, Regulatory and J&J standard events and deadlines.
Support implementation of new EHS&S standards and initiatives
EHS&S training management systems including development of training matrix of company and regulatory requirements, tracking, reporting, and development of educational and awareness campaigns for the campus.

Qualifications:

Education:
Preferred Bachelors degree in Environmental, Safety and Health field

Experience:

1-5 years of experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong decision making and problem solving skills
Organizational skills generate all required reports & record keeping systems on time with good quality.
Willingness to learn Management Systems (SUMMIT or others).
Ability to quickly learn new things and manage complexity.
Strong Team player and positive attitude towards people.
Great communication / presentation skills

Advanced Computer Skills:

Proficient in MS Office software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Internet, intranet and database tools (internal and external) as needed to support the EHS&S functions.
