The Collaborative Terminology Services (CTT) Project has been initiated to develop a Collaborative environment for editing, creating, and publishing new medical terminology that will provide advanced terminology search and modeling capabilities, SDO import for all code sets consolidated health data repository, NTRT capability including integrating LEGO editors to ISAAC and Lexicon quarterly SDO updates.

The Senior GUI Developer will be part of a talented software team that works on clinical support and terminology applications. Roles and responsibilities include working in a Java, Javascript and Ruby on Rails development environment while providing expertise in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing.

  • · Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
  • · Write well designed, testable, efficient code
  • · Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
  • · Prepare and produce releases of software components
  • · Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review
  • · Create user solutions by developing, implementing and maintaining Java based components and interfaces
  • · Contribute to team meetings
  • · Develop new components that serve existing software systems

Further develop current CTT software

  • · 3+ years experience working with Ruby on Rails, Javascript, HTML5, Javascript and Jquery
  • · 4+ years experience working with Java
  • · Experience with test--?driven development including Junit and Rspec
  • · Proficient with APIs and service oriented architectures
  • · Understanding of established software development life cycles
  • · Ability to prioritize and multi--?task in order to meet deadlines
  • · Resolves technical issues through debugging, research and investigation
  • · Fundamental understanding of web--?based systems programming and development
  • · Comfortable working with agile methodology and tools
  • · A team player who is effective working remotely and independently and collaboratively

Ability to learn and use new technologies

  • · Knowledge and experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integration Program (VIP) preferable.
  • · Experience with the Rational Toolset
  • · Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks as delegated
  • · Has understanding and knowledge of basic fundamentals of scrum and iterative development
  • · Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making

Requires Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent and five to seven years of related experience.
