The person in this position will serve as a lead robotics researcher in our mobile and fixed robot research groups. He/she will develop core robotics technologies, working in close contact with Omron business units.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Education: Ph.D. in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in automation and/or robotics technology research and development.

Technical Abilities: Must have demonstrated expertise in mobile robotics navigation, path planning and related sensing technologies. Must know how to apply this expertise to real world robotics applications. Strong algorithm development, prototype evaluation and verification expertise is expected, along with solid mathematical and analytical capability.
Behavioral Profile: Excellent oral and written presentation skills, with ability to communicate effectively to fellow researchers, and business-minded stakeholders. Strong relationship builder. Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Able to effectively plan and set priorities.

Travel Requirements: Frequent travel may be required (2-5 times per year, as needed to attend conferences worldwide, and Omron business meetings in Japan)
