Job brief

We are looking for a strong and self-motivated Robotic Software R&D Engineer for our Silicon Valley Advanced Technology Department (ATD) in Robotics. The role will work with a research and development team to develop intelligent robotic capabilities for our HARI platform on real robot arms, especially machine learning based robot arm manipulation.  The desired candidate should be creative, motivated, eager to learn and explore, and most of all, a reliable team player, who can drive robotic arm software and AI development in a fast-paced R&D environment.  The role also has chances to generate patents and publish academic papers.  



  • Use ROS and other frameworks to build and test on experimental robot arm algorithms
  • Develop kinematics and dynamic models for robot arms
  • Use these models to prototype prove of concept robotic arm manipulation demos
  • Use deep learning based methods to expand classical control based arm manipulation
  • Active research and development for visual feedback based arm manipulation
  • Integration with intelligent robotics framework HARI


  • Expert in C++ and Python (required)
  • One year or above experienceworking with ROS system on real robot systems (required)
  • one year development experience with MOVEIT!, or OMPL, or Gazebo, or V-REP (at least two of the four, required)
  • Has worked on an industrial robot arm for a year or above (required)
  • know with robotics-related theories well, like rigid transforms, inverse/forward kinematics, path/motion planning, dynamic motion control theories, and has applied above on real robot arms (required)
  • Experience with deep learning and general learning theories, with hand on experiences of tensor flow, or pytorch (strongly preferred)
  • Experience working with 3D machine vision (strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of Networking, real-time systems, and distributed systems (preferred)
  • VR/AR dev experience 
  • Android development
  • Visual Servoing
  • has worked on navigation systems (cart, drone) for a year or above with VSLAM experiences (preferred)
  • Experience prototyping real robots
  • MS or Ph.D. in robotics or computer science.  Exceptional undergraduate students will also be considered.
