ROLE of the POSITION
We are seeking a dynamic physician to provide excellent patient care and participate in our important mission of teaching medical students, residents, fellows, and pharmacy students. The incumbent will practice Rheumatology medicine at inpatient and outpatient sites. Incumbents will also represent the department by serving on committees which may include departmental committees, UNLV School of Medicine committees or hospital committees.
This position will have a portion of time spent in outpatient care and also will require hospital coverage of a Rheumatology consultation service. Teaching and computer literacy skills are essential. Incumbents must be adaptable, embrace a teamwork approach and be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. The Department of Internal Medicine in Las Vegas is responsible for the training of approximately 70 Internal Medicine residents in a three-year categorical program. The program is affiliated with University Medical Center (UMC) and offers a comprehensive mix of inpatient and ambulatory teaching experiences. The department's goal is to ensure that each resident possesses the knowledge, procedural skills, critical thinking and professionalism required to succeed as a general internist or future sub-specialist.
Although this is a University program with a strong didactic tradition, the atmosphere here is relaxed and informal. We have a diverse patient population that is unparalleled as well as great hospital ancillary services to help care for our patients. Finally, there simply is no other city in the world quite like Las Vegas, which has something for everyone.
This position requires a MD or DO degree from a regionally accredited college or university.Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology, prior to employment commencing. If board eligible, certification must be completed within the first two years of employment. Clinical patient care in the United States is preferred. Candidates must be eligible for a Nevada medical license, malpractice coverage and meet credentialing requirements and must be able to obtain admitting privileges at applicable hospitals and/or clinics. Finalist must possess and maintain a State Board of Pharmacy license and DEA license and may be subject to a background check.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
