Job Description

This position requires a person with strong leadership skills who is self-motivated and has a positive energized effect on others. This person will be a role model for safety, quality, 6S, and for taking ownership for delivering results.  This position is a working cell leader who will be contributing at least 85 percent of time actually manufacturing product.

  • Effectively Manage Clean Room Operations  

  • Actively engage and perform assembly work from complex documents such as Manufacturing Process documents, Assembly Drawings, and other documentation or verbal instructions of similar complexity with some level of supervision.

  • Plan, assign and direct work in line with priorities set by Operations.

  • Maintain production flow and inform Operations Manager of any problems meeting production goals.

  • Identify production delays in order to minimize the overall manufacturing cycle and assign necessary personnel to complete production requirements.

  • Assemble and build Coaxial switches for commercial and or high reliability (Hi Rel) applications including bodies, solenoids and magnets, PCB assemblies, connectors, perform adjustments, clean and process components.  Use and apply a variety of epoxies and conformal coat.

  • Perform Low-level test.

  • Assignment of daily work tasks and priorities to employees in the department.

  • Resolution of quality, material and process/work instruction issues, working cross-functionally as necessary.

  • Schedule Coordination with Quality and Customer Source Inspectors.

  • Be responsible for and monitor compliance with Clean Room and Hi-Rel requirements: Cleaning, Calibration, Preventive Maintenance as well as daily care and upkeep of equipment and tools used in the work area.

  • Provide excellent workmanship guidance, direction and promote employee involvement in improvement programs and support of Company goals.

  • Represent and advocate for the Company by following and enforcing the documented Company policies.

  • Track employee performance over the evaluation period in order to provide substantive input into the annual evaluation documentation.

  • Provide performance feedback from employees working in the department.

  • Develop and implement countermeasures and action items to effectively address cell performance issues.

  • Directly supervises 2 to 12 employees assigned to the department.

  • Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Assist in small projects to support new product development.

  • Be responsible for KABA time and attendance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.

  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area. 

  • Responsible for following all Clean Room procedures and processes.

  • Perform other duties as required. 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Experience and Familiarity with High-Reliability Standards including strong process controls, quality and customer oversight.

  • Experience in a Class 100000 or better Clean Room environment.

  • Basic understanding of the functional operation of microwave switch assemblies to make minor modifications, continuous improvements and parts substitutions in the assembly process.

  • Ability to read and understand specifications and interpret drawings.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Basic word processing and spreadsheet capability required.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 

  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;  reach with hands and arms; occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus and no color blindness. Annual vision test may be required.

  • Good organizational, communication, and problem solving skills.

  • Knowledge of 5S or 6S, LEAN, 6Sigma a plus.

  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
