Position Title: External Description: Overview:The Retirement Market Research Manager tackles complex problems by integrating research and analytics to drive client and market insights for the Global Retirement Strategy team. The primary purpose of this role is to support the Global Retirement Strategists in driving research in support of developing high quality thought leadership content on retirement and investment topics. In this capacity, the role would work closely with the Global Retirement Strategists, DC/retirement Marketing, Defined Contribution Specialists, ERISA and regulatory professionals, Product, and investment managers, and, as appropriate, Retirement Leadership Council, DC Council, and Investment Product Retirement Content (IPRC) editorial professionals.
The role is the subject matter expert on all third-party DC and retirement research, competitive analysis and to inform positioning of T. Rowe Price's views and investment management capabilities. Additionally, this role will lead, in collaboration with marketing teams across US Intermediaries, Retirement Plan Services, Individual Investors, and Americas, the measurement and reporting of the impact of the thought leadership content and "go to market" efforts for the business.
Responsibilities: Lead Research and Analytics projects for the Global Retirement Strategy team:- The incumbent in this role is responsible for leading research for content creation on a broad range of DC and retirement-related topics for institutional investors. Understands and leverages best practice methods.
- Provides research design expertise, data, analysis, and dialogue about retirement and investments that support T. Rowe Price's brand and ongoing dialogue with clients and prospects.
- Provides recommendations on the definition of research goals and design of research methods. Conducts advanced analysis and reports results, often to senior audiences.
- Has an in-depth understanding of available data sources and can appropriately leverage internal and external systems, databases, etc. to develop theories, describe characteristics, and explain motivations behind market behaviors and environments.
- Assesses and manages a stable of vendors. This includes integrating trends and analyses from multiple sources to generate appropriate conclusions and insights, as well as the effective communication of those insights, both oral and written and creates supporting exhibits.
- Manages projects to ensure the delivery of research content to all relevant business partners. Incorporates feedback from multiple sources where appropriate. Works with subject matter experts to ensure the integrity of the content.
- Importantly, this role would not be expected to drive content design, creation, or production, but would be expected to support the data and trend analysis embedded in that content, including pursuit of data and proper citing, working closely with the Global Retirement Strategists, Marketing, and others as appropriate.
Builds Internal Partnerships and defined contribution and retirement knowledge across Distribution: - Internally, the Retirement Market Research Manager partners with business partners in distribution units serving DC and retirement audiences (e.g., Americas, USI, RPS, Individual Investors, Global Brand Market Research, IPRC, etc.).
- Ensures alignment on research priorities and consistent best practice research processes, communicates insights and strategic business implications, supports segment strategy development, and propagates usage of insights to drive retirement market trend awareness across the enterprise to enhance internal understanding of the retirement marketplace, with particular attention to evolving strategic priorities for the DC and retirement marketplace.
Builds External Relationships and Knowledge Management:- Maintain a high level of familiarity with external industry and academic developments as it relates to key DC and retirement-related thematic and operational developments by regularly interacting with subject-matter experts and client facing teams and by scanning the external environment.
- Ensures insights and best practices are effectively shared throughout T. Rowe Price. In concert with the Global Retirement Strategists, this position will leverage external relationships to identify key DC and retirement trends and best practices.
Thought Leadership Lifecycle Analysis and Impact:- Explores and analyzes the impact of the full content lifecycle of DC and retirement thought leadership.
- Reports and examines marketing activities for their effectiveness to inform the most effective and efficient marketing budget mix. Provides recommendations for marketing improvements based on analysis.
Qualifications: Required: - Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 5+ years of total relevant work experience
Preferred: - Strategic thinking/analytical skills
- Ability to work with large datasets and data structures for purposes of statistical and trend analysis.
- History of conducting research, data mining, and the ability synthesizes a wide range of information and data sources, to create and deliver executive presentations, and create databases.
- Deep knowledge of DC/retirement and investment concepts
- Strong understanding of the institutional DC and retirement marketplace with substantial experience in research for content creation and/or editing for an institutional investment manager or investment consulting firm.
- Self-starter with excellent project management skills and the ability to meet deadlines/prioritize time management across multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills including strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders with the ability to build consensus.
- Proven ability to research, identify, interpret, and prioritize market needs.

Work FlexibilityThis role is eligible for remote work up to two days a week.
