Aon is recruiting a Retirement Consultant - Defined Contribution Retirement Savings Plans to join our growing Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) team.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from one of our Canadian national offices.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada. This role is not eligible for sponsorship, and we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa or work permit.

What the day will look like

As a Retirement Consultant - Defined Contribution Plans within our Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to Aon's success while you:
  • Support and consult on Defined Contribution Group Retirement Savings Programs
  • Lead client relationships for small to medium-sized accounts including critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Understanding and focusing on positive member outcomes and working with clients
  • Develop and participate in effective presentations for existing or prospective clients, individually or in concert with team members
  • Using your strong technical investment knowledge and experience to proactively support, and provide high-quality advice
  • Manage routine client projects (e.g. provider review exercises, investment strategy reviews, program development), with minimal oversight
  • Prepare meeting materials
  • Understands all projects involved with a client and makes sure all needs are being met and proceeding on schedule
  • Have already mastered many technical concepts and can make reasonable interpretations of how they impact clients, including explanations, presentations, and impact considerations
  • Participate in business development activities
  • Coordinate resources on different projects to achieve client results and collaborate on client activities with other experienced team members
  • Display confidence, passion, and leadership
  • Self-motivated, demonstrates a desire to continue to learn and grow, and to go outside one's comfort zone
  • Supervise, guide and mentor colleagues.

How this opportunity is different

You will work with a broad and diverse array of clients while working with a dynamic team of colleagues, leading and contributing to the day-to-day delivery of defined contribution retirement plan services. You will also assist in marketing activities, participate in the development of new service offerings, and expand your skills through continued learning.

As a member of the Aon team, you will also work closely with colleagues in our Commercial Risk, Health and Reinsurance Solutions businesses to bring out the best of Aon to address our client's needs and to help give our clients the clarity and confidence to make better decisions.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • 5+ years experience with Defined Contribution Retirement Savings Plan consulting, or related field
  • Experience with advising clients on some or all:
    • Defined Contribution investment strategy,
    • DC products and investment platforms,
    • Fund manager recommendations,
    • Ongoing investment monitoring,
    • Compliance with regulatory requirements and changes in legislation
  • Fluent communication in both French and English
  • Organization skills, rigour, and thoroughness
  • Proficient with MS Office software (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Commerce or a similar area of focus is an asset
  • Positive, strong work ethic, and a sense of humour
