Responsible for implementation of the NAS 410 standard and the overall administration of the qualification and certification program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - - Responsible for implementation of the NAS 410 standard and the overall administration of the qualification and certification program.
- Lead position in assisting Columbia to acquire a NADCAP rating in NDT processes.
- Maintain overall control and cognizance over the NDT program. This includes:
- Training
- Designating or approving qualified examiners
- Instructors and outside agencies
- Determine and document the adequacy and equivalency of NDT personnel previously certified under NAS 410, EN 4179, or other NDT qualification program.
- Determine and accept previous experience and training of NDT technicians.
- Approve and oversee all written practices, procedures, and techniques within the scope of NDT.
- Consult with the NDT shop supervisor and provide guidance in the daily function of that department and its workflow.
- Assist NDT shop personnel realize their professional growth within the NDT field in concert with the shop supervisor.
- Interact with customers and auditors as required per NADS 410 standard and those imposed by AS9100 and AS9110 requirements.

- Manage and drive continuous improvement activities to identify and eliminate waste in all its forms to improve quality and safety, decrease lead time, and reduce cost. Use proper problem-solving techniques to address issues.
- Ensure all expenditures meet budgetary constraints.
- Conduct performance evaluations, plan salary actions, recommend hires and promotions, anticipate and plan for skills and human resource requirements, and develop staff to meet those needs.
- Interpret and apply organization policies and provide leadership toward resolving employee problems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - - Must be certified and current in accordance with NAS 410 standard as a Level III in one or more NDT methods currently in use by Columbia Helicopters.
- Prefer previous experience and certification with Magnetic Particle Inspection, Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection, Eddy Current, and Ultrasonic inspection.
- An incumbent with ASNT Level III certification will be submitted to a specific exam and procedure exam by an outside agency.
- An incumbent will be expected to perform an audit of Columbia's NDT procedures and report any findings to the Director of Quality. If accepted for the role as Responsible level III, assume responsibility for incorporating those changes.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to present ideas, concepts, and proposals with a wide range of audiences at all levels both internal and external to the company.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Supervisor or management experience preferred with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to train and coach employees.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
