Job Description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia is seeking a part-time experienced researcher with expertise in animal physiology and surgery skills to support the work of Dr. Patricio Ray. The selected candidate should have a Ph.D. or DVM and will assist Dr. Ray to develop animal models to test new treatments against children with renal diseases. This position will support, laboratory and core facilities in the MR-4 research building.

  • Duties include, but may not be limited to:
  • Supervise multiple lab staff performing research studies in animals.
  • Plan and conduct meetings to ensure compliance with established practice to maintain mice and rats following the IACUC regulations.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new surgical procedures; and ensure that lab personnel maintain current training to pursue animal procedures.
