Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Degree must be in one of the following disciplines: Environmental Health Sciences (Chemistry, Occupational Epidemiology, Pharmacology, or Toxicology), Physiology, Neurophysiology, Neuroscience, Immunology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related fields. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly convey scientific information and data to peers and flag level officers. A known intellect and expert in field of expertise and highly sought after as a presenter and lecturer at professional conferences and symposiums. Experience serving as a Principal Investigator or team leader. Ability to assume responsibility for and have knowledge of all phases of the research process, including problem definition, planning, budget formulation, execution and analysis, interpretation and reporting of findings.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: PhD in related scientific discipline (Master's Degree with additional experience may be considered).
Minimum Experience: 4 to 6 years related research experience. Must have worked as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at the university level or as in Industry Scientist.
Physical Capabilities: Work involves long periods of standing.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Supervises technical support staff.
Work Environment: Laboratory environment; may require working evenings and weekends; may involve working with human and animal subjects.
Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
