Job Description

Overview
The Aitchison Lab is seeking an outstanding Systems Biologist to support their systems cell biology and infectious disease research efforts. We are seeking a scientist who is versatile in 'wet' and 'dry' research, performing bench molecular biology and tissue culture and computationally-based data analysis and interpretation. The ideal candidate will be involved in several team-based research projects but will primarily work on host-pathogen interactions in the context of viral infection and immune-responses to vaccination. He/she will independently dive into the literature to gain background knowledge as needed to maximally extract information from the datasets.
A background in immunology, cell biology and virology is preferred for this position; enthusiasm and interest in learning about new research area are essential.
The Center for Global Infectious Disease Research at Seattle Children's Research Institute is a highly collaborative environment and collaboration with other Center scientists will be encouraged and expected.

The scientist will be expected to perform analyses in a transparent manner and to clearly communicate analysis results and methods with collaborating researchers who may or not have computational backgrounds.

Requirements
Required Education/Experience:
Computational biology/bioinformatics experience
A Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biology, engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related scientific discipline pertinent to the position
Minimum of four (4) years experience in required field of specialization
Experience in molecular cell biology laboratory research
Experience working with and deriving meaning from complex biological datasets
Fluency with basic statistical methods
Experience programming in R (preferred), MATLAB, or similar analysis environments
A track record demonstrating scientific creativity, collaboration, and independence
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Please note: Toward the end of the online application process, you will reach a point where you will be able to upload additional attachments.
