We are looking for a cognitive scientist with expertise in computational modeling. As a Research Scientist – Cognitive Modeling at Oculus Research in Redmond WA, you would focus on integrating knowledge from focal areas of Cognitive Science including perceptual-motor control, memory, learning and decision making into a common computational framework. Our research involves both fundamental research on perception and cognition and how specific engineering choices will impact the user experience. Researchers will have opportunities to collaborate with academic institutions and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Projects take advantage of internal resources in mechanical, electrical, optical, and software engineering, allowing us to confront scientific questions which cannot be addressed with existing equipment.
Develop models to predict impact of mixed reality content on human cognitive performance in a broad range of tasks, especially as related to cognitive load and attention
Work closely with internal teams and academic institutions to integrate and update existing code bases based on ongoing scientific advances
Test models against existing data and refine as needed
PhD in cognitive science/psychology, bioengineering, computer science, or related field 3+ years academic or industrial experience beyond PhD
