Primary Job Function

Support routine food safety testing, research projects, and method validation to assure product quality as well as play a key role in global projects.  May provide method and testing support for global nutrition sites, TPM’s or ingredient suppliers.

Core Job Responsibilities

Conceives, plans, designs and conducts advanced independent research as outlined by business strategy.  Acts as a lead scientist on one project and contributor to other projects. Interacts with other groups and share information; participates in team activities.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

May supervise technical personnel.  Acts as lead scientist, project leader, or project contributor.  Provides technical direction and feedback to others.  May provide leadership/direction for project teams and/or direct supervision for up to 5 employees.

Position Accountability / Scope

Project goals are broadly defined; defines project milestones; responsible for timely project completion.  Designs experiments, food safety risk assessments, and documentation independently.  May provide direction to lower level scientist to ensure projects are completed.  Responsible for documentation and for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental results.  Successfully summarizes data and analyzes results; formulates conclusions and determines future experiments. Ensures implementation of methods and food safety testing programs


BS in a related scientific field

Experience/Training Required

7+ years of productive, progressive experience.
