GROWMARK FS is headquartered in Milford, Delaware with branches in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. GROWMARK FS has about 450 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 13,000 customers. The cooperative does business in seed, agronomy, crop protection, precision agriculture, and custom application. GROWMARK FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.
PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Under the direction of the Seed Business Manager and Seed Corn Product Manager, assists in implementing hybrid yield testing programs, product evaluation, and product performance trials along with Seed Operational Issues for the GFS seed business.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
Provides leadership on a seasonal basis.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides Operation Management functions to ensure that appropriate hybrids are delivered from production contracts as available.
Ensures proper inventory management of FS SEEDS Brand seed corn at York.
Prepares and presents the Quality Assurance Report.
Leads seed retesting process.
Orders and ensures correct placement of bagging supplies.
Oversees labeling compliance.
Assists with seed treatment reporting responsibilities.
Provides plot data and information for use in the sales and promotion of seed products.
Responsible for providing leadership to the part time help associated with the plot program.
Oversees planting, harvesting and additional field work associated with the corn performance trials for new product development and other trials as deemed appropriate
Arranges for fields and cooperator assistance in planning, planting, growing and harvesting research and technology, strip trials and evaluation plots
Responsible for determining population counts, vigor and disease and pest ratings and other appropriate agronomic ratings related to research and technology plots and strip trials.
Assists in thinning small plot trials as needed.
Offers input and suggestions for product advancement.
Uses research data program for data analysis, performance trial entry and sales support.
Merges silage quality test results from outside labs into database.
Maintains proprietary software and make arrangements for updates as needed.
Maintains, inventories, repairs and develops replacement plan for research trial field equipment.
Supports sales efforts through various means, including information collection and presentation, winter meetings, and working with sales people on direct sales calls
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Supports and contributes to total company goals and objectives through collaboration efforts.
Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Normally requires a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculutre, marketing or business related displine, or the equivalent thereof, and 5-7 years or more of plant breeding and/or genetics related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of agronomic research.
Demonstrated knowledge of seed, fertilizer and crop protection products, seed research techniques, test plot programs along with market analysis, pricing strategies, and supply forecasts.
Ability to read and interpret technical data pertaining to the seed industry and have the ability to foresee changing market trends and to strategically plan for the short and long-term success of GROWMARK FS Inc.
Proven professional communication, persuasion, presentation, and customer service skills.
Demonstrated planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to work independently, in a team-oriented environment, and achieve results through others.
Ability to use the computer to enhance business processes.
Demonstrated GFS core competencies including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development
Must have and maintain valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Ability to travel independently and overnight.
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
